Monterosso
Monterosso al mare is the largest town of 5 terre, the developed, and least pretty, the narrow alleys and colourful houses of the historic centre are clustered on a hilltop above the small harbour and its seaside promenade. stone stairways connect the 2 areas of the town ( Old centre and Fegina zone), affording lovely views of the mountains that tumble down onto a wide sandy beach below (monterosso al mare is the only village in the cinque terre area witch has a sandy beach). In the main square of the town there is a 12th century gothic church. on the morning of all Thursday in the main square below these church come alive with its weekly market where you can find many typical products. |
